Prodiving Our Employees the Workplace Environment and Support They Deserve

June 10, 2021

Our Human Resources team works incredibly hard every month to provide our employees with the work place environment, resources and support they deserve. May was no different. Take a look at the initiatives and learning opportunities they provided over the past month.

SPARK! Helping Our Managers Succeed

The most valuable asset of our company is our people. This month, we shared resources to help our managers and leaders through Talent Planning, which is an important talent management process that will help them effectively manage, develop, coach and retain our employees at Big Village. Additionally, in honor of May being Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we created a learning path to highlight Diversity and Inclusion-related courses and courses taught by Asian authors on the LinkedIn Learning platform.

Big Village Connects! Bringing Our Employees Together

This month, we celebrated all of our Big Village moms for Mother’s Day and hosted a Bingo game night for Cinco de Mayo where we shared knowledge about the holiday and the Mexican culture. We also recognized Memorial Day to kick off the summer by giving an extra company-wide day off on Friday 28, so we could all enjoy the long weekend!

D&I Celebrating Diversity: AAPI, Jewish and Haitian Cultures

Big Village’s employee led D&I Affinity Group continuously aims to create a culture of inclusion at Big Village by putting diversity, inclusion and equity at the forefront of everything we do. May was no different. We kicked off the month with an employee survey to ensure all D&I efforts meet the needs of employees. There was plenty to celebrate, recognize, and give voice to in the month of May starting with our kick-off of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Tiffany Pham, CEO & Founder of Mogul, the largest platform for women and diverse talent, shared her amazing journey and helped Big Village proudly announce its partnership and commitment to increasing diversity in our candidate pipeline by 50% and in hires by 22% over the next three years. This amazing event was followed by our Jewish Heritage and Haitian Heritage celebrations. Now more than ever, Big Village understands the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment.

Be Well: Educating Employees on Addiction

We strongly believe in supporting the well-being of our employees. This comes in many forms. Lisa Mount, Sr. Budget & Compliance Specialist in Big Village Insights, facilitated a Be Well conversation on addiction. Lisa shared her personal story on how addiction impacted her family and offered her experience about recovery through support groups and resources. This talk was held to help challenge the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health issues. Additionally, in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, we provided our employees with access to many eLearning courses around mental health and well-being.
